Tony Maynard Broyles

LIMESTONE - Tony Maynard Broyles, 59, of Limestone, passed away August 2, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you,” was his favorite verse.

Tony earned his EMT Certification in 1984 and was a volunteer EMT for the Jonesboro Rescue Squad.  He was on the committee that was instrumental in the planning and placement of Washington County EMS Units throughout the county.

In 1998, he was the co-founder of Pioneer Shooters Junior Basketball, Inc.

He retired after 28 years of service from Bosch Braking System in 2008 due to medical circumstances.

He was a 4-H volunteer, mentor and supporter of the Washington County program. He served on the Board of Directors for Washington County Farm Bureau from 2010-2012. He was a Master Beef Producer for the State of Tennessee and a Simmental Cattle Breeder. He has been a member of the Simmental Association for 29 years.

He served as the College and Career leader at Cherry Grove Baptist Church from 2008–2017.  He served alongside these young adults on many mission projects across the nation and in the local community. He also bussed the Cherry Grove Baptist Church senior citizens on various outings.

He was a Chaplain for Disaster Relief for the State of Tennessee and Bristol Raceway Ministries.  He had a passion to tell others of Jesus Christ’s saving grace. He was driven to obtain as much training as possible to assist in any crisis.  He trained at the Billy Graham Training Center in Crisis Prevention with an emphasis to assist children in crisis.

Tony will be missed by family and friends, but all who knew him know that he is in the presence of Jesus. The family would like to thank everyone who visited, extended their kindness and cared for him during his sickness and in his passing.

He was the son of the late Rev. Paul M. and Ruth Broyles.  In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his “Granny” Bernie Spears, several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teena Waddle Broyles of Limestone; his daughter, Dr. Whitney C. Tisdale of Alaska and son, Travis M. Broyles of Limestone; and two beloved grandsons, Lincoln Tisdale of Alaska and Gage Broyles of Limestone.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm–5:00 pm with the celebration of life service to follow at Cherry Grove Baptist Church (104 Cherry Grove Road, Jonesborough, TN). Officiated by Alan McCarter and David Wilson.
