She was born May 25, 1932 in Bluff City, Tenn., a daughter of the late Clyde and Nena Simerly Cox. Nena was not a typical 86 year old. She was a free spirit who lived her life to the fullest. She leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who will always cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Cross, Sr.; daughters, Brenda Joyce Cross and Dawn Launa Cross; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Tom Cross and wife Nancy, Billy Cross and wife Carol, Shawna Cross Robbins, Teresa Cross Winters and husband Bryan; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Betty Lewis; many nieces and nephews; and two special nephews, Tim Carrier and Gene Rogers.
A private family service will be held. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tennessee State Trooper Stacy Wigand who was a great help to Nena and her family during and after the accident that took her life.
