Dr. Walker W. “Jack” Hay

JOHNSON CITY - Dr. Walker W. “Jack” Hay, 80, Johnson City, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Jack was born on October 14, 1937 to the late James Earl and Nova Toona Edwards Hay.

Jack graduated from Haysi High School Class of 1956 and was president of his senior class. He attended East Tennessee College from 1957-1959. He graduated from The Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, Richmond, VA, class of 1963.

He was in private dental practice in Johnson city, TN from July 1963 until 2005. He also worked for Rural Health Services for six years and Washington County Detention Center for over 30 years.

Jack was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and attended Sunday School, Open Arms Community Group, at Heritage Baptist. He was also a member of The JC’s service organization and The American Dental Association for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by: one brother, James Earl Hay, Jr.; and one sister, Linda Gail Hay Hyson.

Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Sue Wright Hay; one daughter, Suzanne Hay Keim; one son, William Scott Hay and his wife Michele Davis Hay; six grandchildren, Ellis Keim Sisto, matthew Gelb Sisto, Thomas H. Keim, III, William Scott Hay, Jr., Barret Davis Hay and John Wilson “Jack” Hay; one brother, Dr. Donal L. Hay; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Hay Counts; two sisters-in-law, Rita Wright Fleenor and Carolyn Wright Hay; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.

The family of Jack Hay will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Richter and Pastor Reggie Weems officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: Dr. C. W. Baskett, Wayne McKinney, George H. Dykes, Buck Bacon, Bobby Tester, Tom Keim, Jr., Cecil Green, Dr. Roderick Biosca, Chuck Bolton and J.J. Elliott.
