Thelma June Lyons

ELIZABETHTON - Thelma June Lyons, age 90, of Elizabethton, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, March 16, 2018, at her home.

She was a daughter of the late William and Emma Gibbs Barnett and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lyons, on April 27, 1997; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Lyons was a charter member and the oldest living member of Green Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. She was a multi-talented women who raised her children to love family and the Lord, as she herself loved family and God.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Judy Howell and her husband, David; Joan Ramsey and her husband, Denny; Jeffrey Lyons and his wife, Nancy; all of Elizabethton; Jill Fender and her husband, Alan; of Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Amy Burker and her husband Tim; Chad Ford; Chris Howell; Autumn Chandler; Jared Lyons; Hannah Fender; Nicholas Fender and Justin Ramsey; five great-grandchildren, Drew Burker; Tori Chandler; Abbie Burker; Chase Chandler and Grant Howell; a brother, Marion Barnett and his wife, Laura; of Johnson City and a sister, Emogene Taylor, of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She will also be missed by her little dog, Bensie.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Lyons will be conducted on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 11:00 AM in Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and other family members. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Green Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:45 AM on Tuesday.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Caris Hospice and her special caregivers, Kathy Perry and Frankie Edwards for all the love, care and support shown to Mrs. Lyons and the family during her long illness.
