Wood is best known as an original member of the multiplatinum-selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra and creator of the Viper electric violin. He is also the founder of the Electrify Your Symphony music education program. Byers is a talented cellist that has a passion for personal expression in youth orchestras.
Wood has visited JC Schools in the past, where he spoke to students about self-expression and the importance of music education.
All orchestra students, grades 5-12, will perform on stage in Freedom Hall Civic Center with professional sound and lights on Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m. The student orchestras will consist of students from Science Hill High School, Liberty Bell Middle School and Indian Trail Intermediate School under the direction of Director Susan Lambert.
The musical selections include exclusive arrangements of classic rock and contemporary music, along with Wood’s powerful compositions.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Johnson City Schools Orchestra Guild will be hosting a fundraiser and ticket sales event at Chick-fil-A West Market in Johnson City. This will be an opportunity to join several other sponsors in supporting the Johnson City Schools Orchestra program.
A portion of the Chick-fil-A sales will be donated to the orchestra guild. Tickets to the April 9th concert will be sold and information about being a sponsor of the concert will also be available.
