The Opera Theatre Ensemble from ETSU’s Department of Music will perform musical numbers from an assortment of operas, including “Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart and “Les contes d’Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach.
“Deh, vieni alla finestra” is the aria that will be performed from “Don Giovanni,” an opera about a gentleman who has a relentless passion for women and portrays the best and worst of human nature.
“Barcarolle,” from “Les contes d’Hoffmann” is another aria that will be performed. “Les contes d’Hoffmann” is based on the life of German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann and includes three romantic tales that occur in a world where the supernatural collides with human life.
The ETSU Opera Theatre is directed by Karen Smith, lecturer of voice in the Department of Music.
The performance will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Reece Museum.
Tickets are free and the event is open to the public.
