Are you an acoustic picker? Do you love bluegrass music? Got 5 bucks? The Boones Creek Historical Trust will be ready for you this weekend in Johnson City.

The trust will host a pickers jam at its annual picnic on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. at Winged Deer Park’s Meredith Pavilion. Acoustic musicians are invited to bring their string instruments, including bass, guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and autoharp.

This will be an “open mic” venue, and vocalists are invited to come and sing. A sound system will be provided.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend as the traditions of bluegrass and old time jamming are being passed to the next generation. Vicki Shell, BCHT musician will be coordinating the musician line up. Musicians should bring a lawn chair and assemble under the tents next to the pavilion.

Everyone is invited to come hungry – fried chicken and fixins will be available for $5 per person.
