With the new policy, If a NASCAR race is postponed due to weather and the ticket holder is unable attend on the rescheduled date like the finish of the Food City 500 in April pushed to Monday, a ticket credit can be issued toward a qualifying NASCAR race at any Speedway Motorsports venue.
The other SMI tracks are: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway.
Fans with an unused ticket will have 60 days from the original race date to request a ticket credit on a qualifying future event.
“It’s an exciting initiative that we’ve been able to launch,” Bristol Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Jerry Caldwell said. “If you purchase tickets to a NASCAR event at Bristol Motor Speedway or any Speedway Motorsports track and we can’t get that race in that day, and you can’t come the next raceable day, then you can use that credit. It takes the worry out of weather for race fans, and let’s them enjoy the event. This allows us to the race fans back the next raceable day or within a year.”
The offer applies to all three NASCAR national series as a Monster Energy Cup Series ticket can be traded for a Cup ticket at the same venue or another SMI track. The Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series can be traded for a ticket in their respective series or used toward the purchase of a Cup ticket.
"Of all major professional sports, none is as heavily impacted by adverse weather as NASCAR," Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith said in a press release. "With drivers already racing on the very edge, even a little rain can have a dramatic impact on race weekend schedules. What we want to do is take weather out of the ticket-buying equation so fans can focus on having a great time and making memories on our premier NASCAR event weekends."
Fans with an unused, eligible ticket will have 60 days from the original race date to request a ticket credit on a qualifying future event. The credit must be used toward another Speedway Motorsports' NASCAR event within one calendar year of the original race date or the same event the following year, even if it takes place beyond the one-year mark. Certain restrictions may apply.

THE ELLIOTT EFFECT
Bristol Motor Speedway saw an uptick in ticket sales for next week’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race after Chase Elliott won his first ever race at Watkins Glen. The son of NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bill Elliott looks to be headed on his way to winning this season’s NMPA Most Popular Driver award.
“It was quite the reaction from the fans,” Caldwell said. “We’ve been pulling for Chase and a lot of these young guns to get some victories. It was a great race and it certainly spiked some interest and was good for us two weeks before our event.”
