Ruritan Breakfast: Hales Community Ruritan Club will host a country breakfast on Saturday, June 23, from 7-10 a.m. at the Hales Community Ruritan building at 152 Hales Road off of Boones Creek Road in Jonesborough. Proceeds will be used for community service projects. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, fresh sausage, bacon, country ham, pancakes, coffee, orange juice and milk will be served. Cost is $8 at the door. Ruritan barbecue supper: The Telford Ruritan Club will be hosting a barbecue supper on Friday, June 22, from 5-7 p.m. The menu consists of barbecue sandwiches, baked beans cole slaw with drinks and desserts. Meals may be purchased for a donation and will be available for carry-out. The Telford Ruritan Club is located at the corner of Telford School House Road and Telford-New Victory Road.

Lakeside Concert Series features Ivy Road: Winged Deer Park’s Lakeside Concert Series will showcase fan favorite Ivy Road on Thursday, June 21. Ivy Road has been entertaining audiences for the past 25 years. Their wide variety of music styles has allowed the band to open for acts such as Johnny Winter, Marshall Tucker and Black Oak Arkansas, as well as venture overseas to play festivals in Scotland. There is always something for everyone at an Ivy Road concert, from Motown to country, from classic rock to blues, from soul to Americana. The concert will take place from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and your dancing shoes. Concessions will be available. New Show at Lamplight Theatre: Travel through the scriptures as prominent women in the Bible share their stories in “Women of Faith: Come to Life.” This premiere production is written and directed by Stephanie Davidson. The show is produced by LampLight Theatre and will be performed in an intimate dinner theatre setting in The Emporium Banquet Hall at 146 Broad St. in downtown Kingsport June 23-24. There is limited seating for show-only tickets. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 5 and under. Admission to The Emporium will be 30 minutes before the show begins. Gun violence documentary: Munsey United Methodist Church is screening the documentary, “Trigger: The Ripple Effect of Gun Violence,” to learn how we may help confront this issue. The free screening is Thursday, June 21, at 7 p.m. in Munsey’s Lower Level Room 10 and is open to the public. The documentary frames gun violence as both a disaster and a public health issue. It addresses the critical issue of gun violence prevention by moving the conversation away from the polarizing extremes that have long dominated the debate and lifting up the voice and experiences of those who seek common ground and a new way forward. Munsey is located in downtown Johnson City at 201 S. Roan St.

Flag retirement ceremony: Tetrick’s 6th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the funeral home located at 3001 Peoples St. in Johnson City. Bring worn and tattered flags to Tetrick that morning or during the week and put them in the flag drop box on the parking lot. The actual retirement process will be conducted by Boy Scout Troop 240 of Gray. Following the service, a complimentary hot dog lunch will be served to all who attend. Melungeons gathering: Best-selling author, writer, and film director Adriana Trigiani will be the featured speaker at the 22nd annual gathering of the Melungeon Heritage Association. The event will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 21-23, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and the Vardy community in Hancock County. Registration for the 22nd Union is $10 for any or all of the three days. Pre-registration information, as well as information about the MHA and the presenters, is available online at www.melungeon.org. Participants may also register on-site. Pre-registration is required for anyone who wants lunch at Vardy on Friday, June 22. Lodging options in Big Stone Gap are also available at the MHA website.
