Collison and Barrett-Justis Exhibit Work: Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center will host an exhibit Friday, June 8, from 6-8 p.m. featuring the woodworking of husband and wife team of Bill and Tina Collison, and the oil paintings of Suzanne Barrett Justis. The exhibition will run through July 2. The McKinney Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Most all the artwork will be on sale to the public during the exhibition. Ruritan dinner: Greenwood Ruritan Club will host a Steak & Gravy dinner Saturday, June 9, from 5-7 p.m. The meal will cost $8 or $4 for children 6 and under. To-go options are available. the Ruritan is a local community service organization located at 118 Crockett Road off Mill Springs and Greenwood Road.

Art League meeting: The Watauga Valley Art League will meet Sunday, June 10, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting is open to all. Each month a program is planned that ranges from talks to demos to hands-on projects.
Liberty Spinners: The Liberty Spinners will gather Tuesday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. This gathering of spinners and fiber artists is open to anyone interested in the art of spinning.
Ranger-led bike ride: Preregistration is required for this ranger-led bike ride at Sycamore Shoals. Ranger Davis will lead a ride up the Tweetsie Trail to the Elizabethton Covered Bridge and back to the park by way of the Elizabethton Linear Trail. The total trip will be about 6 miles and should take about one hour, depending on the ability of riders. The event will begin at 10 a.m and will cost $5. Portions of the route will not be suitable for pull behind child carriers. Attendees are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and bring their own water. Handbuilding pottery class: Greg High will be the instructor for a handbuilding woodland pottery class at Sycamore Shoals on Saturday, June 16. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and will cost $75. This class will be making a cord marked woodland period pot. Participants will need to bring a small bowl and dish towel, all tools and supplies will be provided. Call 423-543-5808 to register.
