Horse Show: South Central Ruritan, 2636 Tenn., Highway 107, Chuckey, will host its Amatuer Horse Show May 19. Gates open at 4 p.m., and the show starts at 6. Concession stand will be serving hot food.

Annual Kid Power Event: Frontier Health will hold the 16th Annual Kid Power event on May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church, 1300 Suncrest Drive, Gray (beside Gray Fossil Site). The family fun event seeks to raise awareness of the importance of children’s mental health and how positive mental health is essential to a child’s healthy development. Events will include free face painting, therapy dog visits, crafts, photo booth, rock painting art and a bounce house provided by the Kingsport Fire Department. Door prizes will be awarded and have been donated by the new Hands On Discovery Center, Quantum Leap, Masterpiece Mixers, Memorial Park Community Center and others. Back to School Drive: The Johnson City Symphony Orchestra will present its Back to School Drive May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the TVA Credit Union Ballpark. The event will feature the music of John Williams. Attendees are asked to bring any unused school supplies to donate to students for the 2018-2019 school year. Tickets are $10 for students, $35 for adults and $50 for a family of four.

Coppelia: East Tennessee Youth Ballet & Academy will present “Coppelia, The Magic Doll” on May 19 at 7 p.m. and May 20 at 2 p.m. at the Gregory Center on the campus of Milligan College. A comic ballet, “Coppelia'” follows the escapades of Swanhilda, her sweetheart Franz and a mysterious dollmaker, Dr. Coppelius. With the high energy of the villagers mazurka, the crazy shenanigans of Dr Coppelius' workshop and the betrothal celebration of the young couple, the ballet is for the whole family. Tickets are $16 for adults and $12 for students and can be purchased at the Elizabethton Public Library, the theatre box office prior to the performance and by calling the academy at 423-512-1722.

Bowl-making: The McKinney Center, 103 Franklin Ave., Jonesborough, will continue its bowl-making event May 17 from 6-8 p.m. Those who have potter’s wheel experience are welcome to use one of the wheels.

Mended, "A Path to Recovery for a Broken Heart" meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Munsey Church, 201 S. Roan St., Johnson City in Room LL-13. All who feel broken or have emotional trauma are welcome. Call 423-943-5559 or 423-292-3121 for more information.

Yard Sale: Johnson City District of Church Women United will have a yard sale on May 19 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on the corner of Market Street and Unaka Avenue near the Carver Recreation Center. Call 423-202-0027 for more information.

Fish Fry: There will be an “all-you-can-eat” fish fry on May 18 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Limestone Ruritan Club, 121 Limestone Ruritan Road, Limestone. The meal is $10 per person. Church groups are welcome. For large groups, call 257-5995 or 257-6580.
