ERWIN — The Unicoi County Ministerial Association is expecting dozens of Easter celebrants to help carry a large wooden cross through downtown Erwin in its 18th annual Good Friday Witness Walk.

The symbolic walk commemorating the crucifixion of Christ will begin at 11 a.m. at the Food Lion store on North Main Avenue and proceed south along Main Avenue to downtown Erwin.

At each of several stops along the way, including Erwin Town Hall and the Unicoi County Courthouse, Erwin-area ministers will lead brief devotions focused on words spoken by Christ on the Cross.

From the courthouse the march will proceed along Gay Street and Elm Avenue to a final stop at Centenary United Methodist Church, where the Erwin Kiwanis Club will host its annual Good Friday service immediately following the walk.

The public is invited to join in both events.
