The third annual regional Stand Down for Veterans will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St.
The event will feature a wide variety of services veterans including assistance accessing military service benefits, housing, homeless prevention services, free legal counseling, health and mental health care referrals, clothing, haircuts, personal care items, lunch and a job fair at the neighboring Northeast State Community College downtown campus.
St. Paul AME Zion to hold weekly fish fry
St. Paul AME Zion Church, 201 Welbourne St., will hold its weekly fish fry on Friday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m.
Sandwiches and dinners will be available at the church fellowship hall.

Post to pay tribute to commander at meeting
The American Legion Post 24 meeting set for Monday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. will be a special meeting to pay tribute to the group’s fallen commander, Robert Henry.
The post urges the support of as many members as possible to help it through this loss.
Center to hold program on wills, trusts
Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., will offer a free program on wills and revocable trusts Monday, Oct. 12, at 10:30 a.m.
John Hartmann from Legacy Planning will discuss the pros and cons of estate planning and asset preservation plans.
Designed for ages 18 and older, this program will help participants ensure their homes and assets are protected and learn how to appoint someone to make their financial and medical decisions if needed.
