Art in the Park calls for more artists and vendors

The 12th annual Art in the Park, held on the International Storytelling Center grounds, is looking for artists and vendors for its 2020 show, scheduled for Saturday, May 9.

Next year’s Art in the Park is not just for artists and crafters. Organizers are looking for authors, performers, musicians, storytellers, and vocalists who wish to share their talents.

The goal of this show is to highlight the fine art produced in our region. The town of Jonesborough is dedicated to showing the creative influence that the arts can bring to their quality of life. Art and craft vendors will be eligible to win prizes including Best of Show for $500, $300 for second place and $100 for third place.

Another popular aspect of Art in the Park includes the tasting area complete with wine samples, mouthwatering chocolates, tempting sauces and savory bread samples, as well as the area’s own marketplace where folks can sample before they buy. “Best in Tasting” vendors may apply to sell their original creations at the event and provide samples.

This year, a food court will be set up, where patrons may eat a meal al fresco and enjoy a long afternoon of art, fine foods, and music.

Eligible artists and food vendors can find an application by visiting the town website at www.mckinneycenter.com or by contacting Theresa Hammons at [email protected] or at 423-753-0562. Artists must submit an application, jury fee, booth fee, and photographs of their work and booth set up to be considered. Once juried into Art in the Park, artists will not have to be juried in again. A perk to participating artists will be their name printed in the event program and a hospitality area where light refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
