10 Out and About things to do this weekend!

1. Ready for the Trails? Local Motion Cyclery will hold a beginner/intermediate bike clinics on Saturday morning Jan. 26. Cyclists will learn some tips and tricks to make rides more enjoyable. Just bring your (clean!) bike into the shop by 9:30 a.m. You will learn to wash, clean, lube and store a bike plus watch some demonstrations of basic trail side maintenance. Also, bring a backpack to learn about items you need and don’t need on a ride and how to change a flat tire. Coffee and donuts will be available as well. Local motion is located at 701 E. 2. Brunch at the cidery: Get your brunch on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gypsy Circus Cider Company. On alternating Sundays this winter, the A.M. Kingsport food truck will be serving brunch to the good people of Kingsport. Enjoy the delicious and inventive meals with cider in the warm tap room. Gypsy Circus Cider company is located at 2645 Fort Henry Dr.

3. Bask in the good kind of blues: Wallace Coleman band will play The Down Home on Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. Wallace Coleman is an acclaimed blues harmonica player born and raised in Tennessee. The self-taught musician was the first and only harmonica player hired by Delta Blues guitarist Robert Jr. Lockwood whose professional music career started at the age of 50. The Down Home is located at 300 W. Main St. in Johnson City. Tickets are $15.

4. Time for tea! Take some time to harken back to the days when socializing happened over a tea and cookies. Enjoy tea time at the Jonesborough Barrel House every Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Bite-sized desserts will be available to complement your tea selections. Reservations are not required for this event which is located at 119 East Main St. in Jonesborough.

5. Browse for your boo: Shop for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift at the Sweethearts Fair on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Model City Event Center in Kingsport. The fair will celebrate all things love with a bake sale for Season of Hope, door prizes, swag bags and kissing booth photo sessions. Model City Event Center is located at 201 East Center St.

6. A weekend with the Willow Tree: This weekend from Friday to Sunday the Willow Tree Music Room and Coffeehouse will celebrate its 5-year anniversary with three concerts featuring local bands like Yarn, Sam Quinn, Dangermuffin and more. Friday’s ticket is $10, Saturday’s is $20 in advance, $25 at the door and Sunday is $18 in advance or $20 at the door. Or, buy a weekend pass for all three days full of music and fun for $35.

7. Blazing trails: Contribute to the newest bike trail at Winged Deer Park by participating in the Trail work party on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. A team will be shaping the new black diamond trail by moving and placing rocks. No experience is necessary but volunteers will need sturdy shoes and gloves! Lunch will be provided.

8. Test you comedy chops: JRH Brewing Co. will host BUC-SNORT, an open mic comedy night in its tap room Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. The night will be hosted by David Habel and Beth Tomkins. It’s free to participate and free to watch.

9. Hear the stories behind some local music: See some local songwriters in a unique way at Songwriters in the Round. Local musicians, Chancellor Lawson, Andy Kramer and Sam Collie will take turns performing original pieces and discussing their original styles and stories. The event will begin at 8 p.m. on Jan. 26 at the Model City Tap House in Kingsport. The tap house is located at 324 E. Market St.

10. I wanna rock! Jam out to familiar rock songs and familiar 80s tunes on Saturday night when local bands The Breakfast and Club and Wyleheart. The Breakfast club will play a special one-hour set before Wyldeheart takes over. Admission is $12 and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. at Capone’s in downtown Johnson City.
