Niswonger Children’s Hospital’s fourth annual Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Founders Park in Johnson City. The event features a 5K race, a one-mile fun run and a 200-meter modified race that accommodates children who might otherwise not participate in traditional runs.
“The Scarecrow Skedaddle is a great event for athletes of all levels, from accomplished runners, to first-timers and those who need extra assistance,” said Lisa Carter, chief executive officer of Niswonger Children’s Hospital and Ballad Health’s vice president of pediatric services. “Our therapy team will be available for those athletes who are using walkers, wheelchairs or who might just need a little extra support.
“For other children and families, the Scarecrow Skedaddle might be the first mile they’ve ever run. It means so much for us to be part of a community effort to get everyone out and active and instill a love of physical activity.”
Following the races, Niswonger Children’s Hospital will host a shindig at the park’s amphitheater or pavilion. The after-party will include agility challenges, dancing and educational and health-related booths for children and their families to explore.
Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig registration costs $10 per person. To learn more or register for the event, visit www.thegoosechase.org/scarecrow-skedaddle.
