Stars of the show that are currently set to appear at the festival are John Schneider and Tom Wopat, who played Bo and Luke and Byron Cherry who played Coy in later seasons of the show and Chris Hensel who played Jeb. also making an appearance will be Turtleman and Whey Jennings.
The event is a fundraiser for the Patton-Crosswhite Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 6975 and its Auxiliary.
“All of our events that we do the proceeds got back to the VFW which in turn we use to help our local veterans and community,” said Charles Reisler, Commander at the Patton-Crosswhite post.
The post helps local veterans and their families out by helping them pay bills and fulfilling a variety of needs. The biggest service the posts provide is providing an honor guard for veteran funerals. They come to the burial, perform the 21-gun salute and play taps, giving veterans an official send-off.
The event began as a small fundraiser, but quickly grew as more and more members of the “Dukes of Hazzard” cast wanted to come.
But according to Reisler, the more cast members that signed on, the more they realized they would need more room. The event quickly outgrew its original location. Now the event will be held at the VFW Post 2108 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
“Were expecting a few thousand at minimum. We may have a few more surprises too,” said Reisler, who hinted at the openings in entertainment between musical acts.
Signing with the cast will take place 1-6 p.m. on Friday with the concert with John Schneider at 8 p.m. and signing on Saturday will take place from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
