Johnson City’s inaugural Meet the Mountains festival is coming up, don’t miss great tunes throughout the weekend at at the Founders Park Amphitheater, 225 S. Commerce St.:

1. The North Remembers, and Game of Thrones trivia is back for round two at Gypsy Circus Cider Company, 2645 Fort Henry Drive, Thursday starting at 7 p.m. Opies Pizza Wagon will be on site in case attendants get hungry in the heat of battle. 

2. For a quiet Friday morning, stop by Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, for a day of painting outdoors. The class is $35 and begins at 9 a.m.


1. No boating experience is necessary to join in the Sunset and Full Moon paddle trip Sunday night from 8-10 beginning at 421 Bridge-South Holston Lake, Highway 421, Bristol. Paddle boards will be available to rent for $30, but participants are welcome to bring their own boats for no charge. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 800-872-7238. 

2. Get your funnies in before the weekend is over at Holston River Brewing Company, 2623 Volunteer Parkway, with a special comedy show featuring Julie Scoggins and Josh Phillips. The show begins Saturday at 8:30. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
