Letters: A dog who lived up to her name

Contributed to Johnson City Press • Dec 17, 2017 at 12:00 AM

I’m not a writer, but I’m doing my best to tell you this true story. I feel it is an uplifting story of interest for this time of year.

My younger daughter is a volunteer for the local American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of to Animals. She helps rescue animals, especially dogs.

Approximately two years ago she rescued and, in time, adopted a dog named Angel.

Recently. in the middle of the night, Angel awakened her family to a fire that had started in their living room. She jumped on their bed until they woke up. Smoke filled the living room. It had not reached the family’s bedrooms yet.

Thanks to Angel my family is alive today. They were sound asleep and had no clue that there was fire. Angel absolutely saved my family.

She’s a very special animal. We love her and now have an extra special appreciation for how she loves her family and how smart she is.

She is a saved dog who saved my family. She is truly an angel.
