Technique area at Boone Dam nears completion

The Boone Dam project is moving toward completion of the technique area of the earthen embankment.

In this portion of the project, the contractor tests best “means and methods” for the construction of the entire underground cutoff wall. A total of four distinct “techniques” have been tried, and the contractor is achieving their anticipated production rates. Concrete, batched and quality tested onsite, is poured into piling holes that are drilled to depths of about 140 feet.

While some night work has already been taking place, the public can expect to see five-nights-per-week work in the near future.

Wall construction is scheduled to be complete in spring 2021, followed by a period of lake level fluctuations that will be communicated to the public at that time. Boone Lake is scheduled to return to normal operations in July 2022. The project schedule is updated monthly on the Boone Dam website.
