Rare 16mm film footage of Hampton will be shown at the Watauga Historical Association’s meeting on Thursday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Tipton Haynes State Historical Site, 2620 S. Roan St.

Rusty Melton, founder and administrator of the Carter County history site www.cartercountyhistory.com/from-the-publisher.html will present the program.

According to a release from the association, the film was a "barn find." Melton got it from someone several hours away who only knew to contact him because there was a Carter County bus in the film. The footage shows the newly finished State Line Road in Valley Forge, several businesses in Hampton and footage shot inside the Hampton School.

Even though the film was shot in 1941, it is in color.
