April 25, 1939: Toupie Scalf was fined $50 for possessing ½ gallon of white whiskey. He paid $25 and was released on the order of a Dr. Matthews.
April 25, 1992: Community leader Allen Harris Jr. died after a brief illness. Harris was a Johnson City native and was director and past president of the East Tennessee State University Foundation. He also served as a chairman of the board of advisors for ETSU’s College of Business, and director and president of the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, among other things.
April 25, 1993: Major League Baseball pitcher Daniel Norris was born in Johnson City.
