Feb. 16, 1888: The Comet reported that Mr. G. E. Bradley discovered silver ore on his land near Johnson City.

Feb. 16, 1941: J.A. Denton, a Johnson City commissioner, died.

Feb. 16, 1969: First Christian Church observed Centennial Religion Sunday.

Feb. 16, 1980: Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins appeared at Freedom Hall Civic Center.
