Peggy Britt Henderson, a family history consultant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the speaker. She has been working in genealogical research for 50 years and specializes in FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com.
Her direct maternal line (Holtzclaw) comes from Germany and eventually settled in western North Carolina. Henderson has focused her research in the Watauga Valley area of North Carolina — Elk Park, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Roan Mountain, Cranberry, Valle Crucis, Seven Devils/Foscoe, Grandfather Mountain, Shell Creek, Linville and Crab Orchard). She will be sharing names and stories of the early settlers and how the train, iron ore, war and coal changed their lives from 1793-1930.
