According to a Monday statement from Tusculum University, a third student tested positive for the novel coronavirus. All three went out of state together for spring break with a larger group.

“We are following the same process with this third student as the others, providing to the Northeast Tennessee Regional Health Office the names of everyone who has had contact with this person,” the emailed statement read. “None of these students has been on the Tusculum campus for several days.”

University administrators learned Friday morning that the first student tested positive for the virus that has caused a global pandemic. They told staff to work remotely and closed the campus residence halls.

On Saturday, the second student tested positive.

The names of people with whom the students may have been in contact were provided to the Northeast Tennessee Regional Health Department, and those people were being notified.
