Tennessee COVID-19 cases pass 19,000

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 433 new cases and two new deaths Friday from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) compared to Thursday’s report.

The statewide case count grew to 19,394 since tracking began in March. The death toll reached 315. The state also reported 375 new recoveries for a total of 12,566 and 21 new hospitalizations for a total of 1,560. Labs in the state reported 7,587 new tests had been performed for a total of 368,170.

The Northeast Tennessee case count increased by two to 245. Greene and Sullivan each had one new case. The region’s death toll remained steady at seven. Recoveries increased by one for a total of 229. There were nine active cases in the eight-county region. Labs reported 105 more negative test results in the upper eight counties for a total of 12,845.
