Tennessee COVID-19 count: 154 new cases, 4 new deaths

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 154 new cases and four new deaths Wednesday from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) compared to Tuesday’s report.

The statewide case count grew to 18,532 since tracking began in March. The death toll reached 309. The state also reported 814 new recoveries for a total of 11,783 and 17 new hospitalizations for a total of 1,515. Labs in the state reported 8,695 new tests had been performed for a total of 346,123.

The Northeast Tennessee case count grew by one to 244. One new case each was reported in Washington and Sullivan counties, but Hawkins County’s case count was reduced by one. The region’s death toll remained steady at seven. Recoveries increased by three for a total of 224. There were 13 active cases in the eight-county region. Labs reported 31 more negative test results in the upper eight counties for a total of 12,559.
