Tennessee COVID-19 cases pass 18,000, deaths pass 300

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 623 new cases and three new deaths Monday from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) compared to Sunday’s report. Meanwhile, the counts in Northeast Tennessee were flat.

The statewide case count grew to 18,011 since tracking began in March. The death toll reached 301. The state also reported 234 new recoveries for a total of 9,886 and seven new hospitalizations for a total of 1,489. Labs in the state reported 12,148 new tests had been performed for a total of 327,428.

The Northeast Tennessee case count remained at 237, and the death toll remained steady at seven. Recoveries were steady at 200. There were 30 active cases in the eight-county region. Labs reported 460 more negative test results in the upper eight counties for a total of 12,398.
