COVID-19 in Tennessee: 271 new cases, just 1 new in NETN

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 271 new cases and three new deaths Friday from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) compared to Thursday’s report.

The statewide case count grew to 16,970 since tracking began in March. The death toll reached 290.

The state also reported 399 new recoveries for a total of 9,280 and 19 new hospitalizations for a total of 1,454. Labs in the state reported 9,400 new tests had been performed for a total of 302,317.

The case count grew by one in Northeast Tennessee to 238. The death toll remained steady at seven. There was one new recovery for a total of 200. There were 31 active cases in the eight-county region.
