COVID-19: 7 new deaths, 275 new recoveries in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Health on Tuesday reported 119 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 13,624 since tracking began in March.

The state also reported seven new deaths for a total of 226; 13 new hospitalizations for a total of 1,156; and 275 new recoveries for a total of 6,801. Labs in the state had administered an aggregate of 218,796 tests for the virus — 7,353 more than in Monday’s total.

The upper eight counties Northeast Tennessee reported five new cases for a total of 214: Carter, 16; Greene, 43; Hancock, 0; Hawkins, 31; Johnson, 5; Sullivan, 59; Unicoi, 2; and Washington, 58. Two new cases were reported each in Carter and Sullivan, and one new case was reported in Washington.

The state listed a total of 6,988 negative test results for Northeast Tennessee, 430 more than in Monday’s report: Carter, 815; Greene, 930; Hancock, 80; Hawkins, 948; Johnson, 101; Sullivan, 1,999; Unicoi, 169; and Washington, 1,946.

The death toll in the upstate remained at six: Carter, 1; Greene, 2; Hawkins, 2; and Sullivan, 1.

Northeast Tennessee had a total of 179 recoveries: Carter, 12; Greene, 37; Hawkins, 28; Johnson, 3; Sullivan, 48; Unicoi, 1; and Washington, 50.

The region had a net of 29 active cases.
