Tennessee COVID-19 cases pass 13,000

The Tennessee Department of Health on Sunday reported 516 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 13,177 since tracking began in March.

The state also reported one new death for a total of 210; 10 new hospitalizations for a total of 1,135; and 96 new recoveries for a total of 5,814. Labs in the state had administered an aggregate of 204,607 tests for the virus, 8,331 more than in Saturday’s total.

The upper eight counties Northeast Tennessee reported three new cases for a total of 201: Carter, 14; Greene, 43; Hancock, 0; Hawkins, 30; Johnson, 3; Sullivan, 51; Unicoi, 3; and Washington, 57. Two new cases were reported in Sullivan County, and one new case was reported in Carter County.

The state listed a total of 6,169 negative test results for Northeast Tennessee: Carter, 584; Greene, 885; Hancock, 75; Hawkins, 898; Johnson, 90; Sullivan, 1,632; Unicoi, 162; and Washington, 1,843.

The death toll in the upstate remained at six: Carter County, 1; Greene County 2; Hawkins County 2; and Sullivan County 1.

Northeast Tennessee had a total of 174 recoveries, Carter, 10; Greene, 35; Hawkins, 27; Johnson, 3; Sullivan, 46; Unicoi, 3; and Washington, 50.

The region had a net of 21 active cases.
