COVID-19: 10 new deaths in Tennessee, cases pass 9,100

The Tennessee Department of Health on Saturday reported 463 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 9,189 since tracking began in March.

Labs in the state had performed a total of 141,406 tests as of Saturday’s report, up 10,108 from Friday’s total of 131,298.

The state also reported a total of 178 deaths, up 10 from Friday’s total.

In Northeast Tennessee, the state reported eight new cases in Saturday’s figures, bringing the total to 180. NE Tennessee cases by county: Carter, 10; Greene 41;  Hancock 0; Hawkins 29; Johnson, 2; Sullivan, 48; Unicoi, 1; and Washington, 49.

None of the state’s 10 new deaths took place in the upper eight counties. Six fatalities had been reported in Northeast Tennessee in recent weeks: Carter County, 1; Greene County 2; Hawkins County 2; and Sullivan County 1.
