COVID-19: 156 new cases, 5 new deaths in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Health on Tuesday reported 156 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 7,394 since tracking began in March.

Of those new cases, three were in Northeast Tennessee, bringing the total to 164. Two were in Greene County, and one was in Hawkins County.

NETN cases by county: Carter, 5; Greene, 37; Hancock, 0; Hawkins, 28; Johnson, 2; Sullivan, 45; Unicoi, 1; andWashington, 46.

The state also reported five new deaths, bringing that toll to 157; 760 hospitalizations for an increase of 30; and 3,575 recoveries for an increase of 253.

None of the state’s new deaths was reported in Northeast Tennessee. Six fatalities had been reported in Northeast Tennessee in recent weeks: Carter County, 1; Greene County 2; Hawkins County, 2; and Sullivan County (1).

The state listed 112 of Northeast Tennessee’s cases as having recovered: Carter, 3; Greene 24; Hawkins, 24; Johnson, 2; Sullivan, 35; Unicoi 1, and Washington, 23.
