ELIZABETHTON — With the coming of warm weather, the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department is feeling the urge from citizens to get back to more normal use of the parks.

The parks are allowing the use of trails and pavilions as long as social distancing is followed. The playgrounds remain closed. The Recreation Center on Mill Street also remains closed.

On its website, the Parks and Recreation Department said, “While many of our daily lives are rapidly changing, we understand that with the sunshine and warm temperatures many people want to be outside to remain healthy — physically and mentally, and provide something for your children to do amidst no school and unlimited time without friends and normal activity.

“The governor and city officials have stressed the importance of social distancing while attempting to flatten the curve and keeping our citizens and visitors healthy.”

Some good news is that the Elizabethton Golf Course is back to nearly normal operations and business has been brisk. The driving range is also open.

The clubhouse is closed for on-site service, but to-go orders are available on Wednesday through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 pm. by calling 423-213-6138.
