ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department and the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library have unveiled their newest virtual contest for the week of April 27 to May 1.

These contests have been offered weekly by the parks department and the library since most recreational facilities and libraries were closed to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The latest contest will run through noon Friday, May 1. This contest has been named a “Show us Your Recreation” competition. The contest is open to all ages. Participants will upload a photo of themselves, their children or anyone in their household. The photo should show how they get their recreation in for the day.

This can be playing outside, cooking, gardening, reading, or other activity. Participants are asked to upload their photo to the Parks and Recreation Facebook page, or send a message through Facebook messenger, along with a photo. Judges will pay attention to both the photography and content of the photo.

A winner will be chosen Friday and will be awarded a prize pack courtesy of the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library and the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department.

A new contest will be announced weekly.
