ELIZABETHTON — Carter County Mayor Russell Barnett has once again extended the local emergency that has been in effect in Carter County for all of April.

The emergency is intended to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Under the extension, the local emergency will remain in effect until April 28, with all the provisions of the earlier executive orders remaining in effect.

In addition to the extension of the local emergency, Abby Frye, executive assistant to the mayor, said public access will remain closed to the Carter County Courthouse.
