The two second district school board seats up for vote include the seats held by Board Chairman Tyler Engle, who is not seeking reelection, and incumbent board member Glenn Fisher.
Fisher, a retired Unicoi County coach and teacher, will be joined on the ballot by Erwin Alderman and downtown Erwin business owner Michael Baker, and Allan Foster, operations manager for the roller division of the TN Tennessee manufacturing company formerly owned by NN Inc.
Voters in the Second District downtown Erwin area will be voting for two of three candidates.
In the Aug. 6 state Republican primary, incumbent 4th District Representative John Holsclaw Jr. of Elizabethton will be challenged by Tim Lingerfelt, a Unicoi County resident employed by the town of Erwin Public Works Department, and Robert “Bob” Acuff, a Carter County Commissioner.
The winner of the Republican primary will face Robert Patrick Harrell in the state general election in November. Harrell is a Carter County resident running unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Also on the ballot in the August general election, Unicoi County Property Assessor Teresa Kinsler will be unopposed for re-election. Kinsler won the Republican primary nomination for the office in March, when she was also unopposed.
