Melissa Moreland, clerk and master for Carter County Chancery Court, said the property is a part of a tax sale of properties delinquent on 2017 property taxes. She and her staff have worked hard to trim the number of properties in the tax sale. She said when they started, there were more than 600 properties on the list.
Despite the hard work of getting the properties back in good graces, Moreland said the 62 represents the largest number of properties in a tax sale in several years.
The sale will be held in the main courtroom on the second floor of the Carter County Courthouse on Friday. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the sale will start at 9 a.m.
