Traffic signal work to be done at West Elk and Bemberg tonight

ELIZABETHTON — Motorists driving on West Elk Avenue tonight should exercise even more caution because workers will be repairing the traffic signals at the intersection of West Elk and Bemberg Road.

A contractor for the city of Elizabethton will be working to make necessary repairs to the control cabinet for the traffic light at the intersection, The work will begin at 9 p.m. and will require power to be shut off. The traffic lights will go dark at the intersection.

Elizabethton police and the Street Department will make lane closures with signs and cones to prohibit left turns at the intersection and also prohibit traffic on Bemberg from crossing West Elk Avenue.

Traffic to West Elk from both north and south sides of Bemberg Road will be right turn only.

The repair and street closure is expected to last about three hours. Those needing to make left turns a the intersection will need to go around the block to take the next intersection.
