The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is requesting citizens who wish to speak or ask questions at its Tuesday, July 16, public meeting on the latest NRC safety review at Nuclear Fuel Services register in advance of the 7 p.m. meeting.

Registration may be completed by filling out a “speaker card” during a check-in period to be conducted from 6 and 7 p.m. prior to the meeting at Erwin Town Hall, or by contacting NRC Senior Fuel Facility Inspector Joel Rivera at 404-997-4825 or [email protected]

NRC Senior Public Affairs Officer Roger Hannah said while people who do not register in advance will be allowed to speak or ask questions, those who pre-register will be allowed to go first.

Rivera-Ortiz said, “Knowing the number of speakers in advance will allow us to manage the meeting time properly and maximize participation opportunities. We plan to select the speaker names randomly with the intent of giving all registered speakers an opportunity to participate. If time allows, we may extend the opportunity to anyone else in the room to speak after all registered speakers are done with their statements or questions.”
