HAMPTON — The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to work on its development of a bike trail in the Elizabethton-owned Hampton watershed.

The department staff is working with representatives of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association as they review a final memorandum of understanding partnership agreement.

Parks and Recreation Director Mike Mains reported to the Elizabethton City Council that his department has hired Randy Connor of Contour Trail Design to inspect all aspects of the bike trail, especially liability concerns.

Mains told the City Council that Connor told him “the Hampton Watershed Trails are a jewel.”

Mains said Connor’s report only had a few things that needed to be addressed and most of those had to do with signage.
