Johnson City reminds customers of holiday garbage procedures

Contributed • Dec 27, 2018 at 10:20 AM

With the Christmas and New Year’s holidays upon us, Johnson City Solid Waste customers are reminded that:

· New Year’s Eve collection will be on regular schedule.

· New Year’s Day collection will be on regular schedule.

Additionally, citizens are asked to recycle their gift boxes, cardboard packaging and paper. The city does not accept foil paper or plastic packaging. Plastic containers marked with a 1 or 2 are acceptable. For added convenience, the city offers five drop-off sites for recyclables. Please visit http://www.johnsoncitytn.org/publicworks/solidwaste/recycling/ for more information and locations.

After Christmas, customers may leave live Christmas trees at the curb to be picked up on regular brush collection routes. Trees must be cleared of all decorations.

Please call Solid Waste Services at 423-975-2792 with any garbage or recycling questions, and the Street Division at 423-975-2700 with Christmas tree questions.
