Kingsport’s Cliff Kresge made his trip to Japan one to remember.

Kresge, in his first year on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, finished tied for 10th at the Japan Mastercard Championship on Sunday.

It’s the first top-10 finish for the rookie on the 50-and-over tour and the $60,000 he earned moved him up to 62nd on the Charles Schwab Cup list with $109,938.

Kresge shot even-par scores in the first and third rounds. In between, he posted a six-under-par 66. That left him at six under par for the 54-hole tournament. He finished tied with Colin Montgomerie and Paul Goydos.

Scott McCarron won the event with a score of 13 under par, beating Billy Andrade and Kirk Triplett by three strokes.
