Local amateurs continued their mastery of local professionals at the Tri-Cities Cup golf matches Thursday at Johnson City Country Club.

The amateurs won by a margin of 10 1/2 to 4 1/2 in the Ryder Cup style format for their fourth straight victory and their sixth win in the last seven years. The competition was tied 2 1/2 apiece after four-ball competition, but the amateurs won seven matches to just one for the pros with the two other matches coming out even.

The annual competition matches six top amateurs and four senior amateurs against 10 top professionals in a one-day, 36-hole match.

With winds and fast greens making it a bit of a challenge, Lawrence Largent, Lucas Armstrong and Lyman Fulton all doubled up with wins in both four-ball and singles competition for the amateurs. Allen Fennell won both his matches for the Pros.

Other singles victories were scored by Cayman Ratliff, Brandon Worley, Matt Love and James White. Fulton teamed with Tony Gouge to win in four-ball competition.

For the pros, Todd Foster and Fennell teamed for a victory, as did Jeremy Beachner and Chris Stacy. Mike Davenport and Ken Miller halved their singles matches, as did Johnson City Country Club’s own Mike Crowe and Bill Hardin.
