A monumental closing stretch gave the East Tennessee State University women’s golf team a tournament championship on Tuesday and the Bucs never even hit a shot.

Thunderstorms forced second-round play of the Web.com Intercollegiate at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, to be suspended on Monday. After a delay, the Bucs returned to the course and finished the round in style, going seven under par over the final six holes to seize the lead.

As it turned out, it was good enough to win as the final round was scrapped because of more storms moving through the Jacksonville area Tuesday morning. ETSU finished the 36 holes 22 over par beat runner-up Cincinnati by four strokes.

The Bucs had two players finish in the top four. Linda Dobele had her best collegiate outing, finishing third with rounds of 72 and 73. Loy Hee Ying was fourth with a 71 and 75. It was her fifith top-five finish of the year. Also for the Bucs, Dominika Czudkova shot 76-78, Ankita Kedlaya shot 80-75 and Rachel Pollock shot 87-76.

ETSU has one more regular-season event — the Brickyard Intercollegiate, April 10-11 at Macon, Georgia — before the Southern Conference tournament, set for April 23-25 at the Country Club of Lexington in Lexington, South Carolina.
