South's Reed earns top spot in weekly honor

Sullivan South kept its football season alive and running back Julian Reed had a big hand in the victory over East Hamilton.

Reed rushed for 248 yards in the win over the Chattanooga school in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, and was honored with the top spot in the Johnson City Press/Times News player of the week honor roll.

Leading the Rebels to a tight 28-24 win over East Hamilton, the senior was a workhorse with 36 carries for 248 yards and two touchdowns.


Zane Whitson

Dobyns-Bennett, QB

Passing for 223 yards and connecting for four touchdown tosses, the junior led his team to a 35-7 win over William Blount.


Bryson Rollins

Elizabethton, QB

It was a 44-8 blowout win for the Cyclones over East Ridge, and Rollins contributed 218 total yards. He was 11 of 14 passing for 142 yards and added three rushing scores.


Brennan Blair

Daniel Boone, RB

The budding star was at it again. This time the junior wrecked Knox Halls in a 32-3 win with 150 yards rushing, three touchdowns and an interception return for 49 yards.


Hunter Shell

Cloudland, QB

The Highlanders continued their late-season surge with a 28-7 win over Harriman as the senior was true on 5 of 7 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown.
