Science Hill’s Grady Moore has resigned as an assistant football coach and a teacher, Johnson City Schools Superintendent Steve Barnett said Thursday.

“His resignation has been accepted,” said Barnett in a statement. “At the conclusion of our investigation we will turn over our findings to the Tennessee State Board of Education.”

The school has not released details about the investigation, or what prompted it. Moore was a physical education and wellness teacher at the school.

According to a statement issued by Communications Director Debra Bently, Director of Human Resources Lee Patterson said Moore’s personnel file will be updated and available next week.

The Hilltoppers’ football team has struggled to find wins this season, taking a record of 2-5 into Friday’s Region 1-6A contest against Morristown West at home.
