Cyclones' Rollins earns weekly honor

Elizabethton expected a test from Cherokee, but Bryson Rollins and his Cyclones teammates made sure it didn’t happen.

Rollins accounted for four touchdowns in a 45-0 win over the previously undefeated Chiefs on Friday, earning the top honor on the Johnson City Press/Times-News player of the week honor roll.

Bryson Rollins

Elizabethton, QB

Rollins carried 21 times for 139 yards and scored three TDs in the win over Cherokee. The sophomore also completed 7 of 13 passes for 102 yards and another score.

Cade Larkins

David Crockett, QB

Playing only in the first half, the senior hit on 18 of 28 passes for 235 yards. He also connected for five touchdowns in a 49-7 win over Sullivan Central.

Kody Lewis

Unicoi County, RB

In a tight 28-22 win over Sullivan East, the senior was the difference with 18 carries for 268 yards and three scores. He had an 88-yard TD among his runs.

Eli Ayers

Happy Valley, QB

Leading his team to a 41-0 romp over Unaka, the Warriors’ junior completed 11 of 14 passes for 169 yards with two touchdowns.

Cole McBrayer

Tennessee High, QB

The Vikings’ senior completed 11 of 17 passes for 184 yards and a TD in a 35-9 win over Abingdon. He also added two rushing scores.
