A new business is coming to Johnson City, one that aims to give shoppers an opportunity to buy local meat and produce.

Hughes & Sons Farm Market, 128 Willocks Road, has been open for a few weeks, but will hold their official grand opening this Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.

The market is owned by Jamie Hughes but, as the name implies, it is certainly a family affair. Hughes has been farming since he was a boy, and has been a wholesaler for several years. The market’s construction began on July 4, and the market opened in early September.

Jamie Hughes’ mother handles the retail and baking side, while Hughes and his sons spend their time caring for their animals and fields in the area. All of their meat is USDA approved, and they’ll also offer a variety of produce and seasonal items as well.

The market is open from 2 p.m. -7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. -7 p.m. on Saturdays.
