High school roundup: Dobyns-Bennett routs Sevier County

KINGSPORT — Lendon Redwine threw for 222 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown to Charlie Browder, and Ian Hicks rushed for another 152 yards and two touchdowns as Dobyns-Bennett routed Sevier County 55-0 on Friday night at J. Fred Johnson Stadium.

Dobyns-Bennett (2-2) dominated all phases of the game, with Tyler Tesnear rushing for two touchdowns and Nic Bristol returning an interception for a touchdown. Cameron Williamson scored a touchdown on a reverse and Nick Stump added a final D-B score.

The Indians also controlled the game on the defensive side, holding the Smoky Bears to just 62 rushing and 47 passing yards.

Sullivan South 28, Gate City 13

KINGSPORT — Sullivan South running back Julian Reed and quarterback Luke Pollack both scored twice to rally the Rebels (3-1).

Showing great patience, Pollack managed to pile up 199 yards rushing on 25 carries. He scored on touchdown runs of 18 and 6 yards. He also completed 4 of 10 passes for 80 yards.

Gatlinburg-Pittman 34, Hampton 21

HAMPTON—Alex Hardin had two touchdown passes and Conor Jones made two receiving scores for Hampton, which kept things interesting against favored Gatlinburg-Pittman.

The Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead in electrifying fashion, with Lane Potter hitting Jones on an 84-yard halfback pass. The Bulldogs were up 14-13 in the second quarter after Isiah Greenwell hauled in an 11-yard TD throw from Hardin and Michael Harrison booted the second of his three extra points.

The Highlanders, though, reeled off the next 21 points before Hardin and Jones connected for a 30-yard touchdown.
